‘We hae meat’ is owned and managed by husband and wife team Alex and Carlyn Paton.
‘We hae meat’ operates from a purpose-built site located on the Paton family farm, Cairnhill, in the beautiful Girvan Valley in Ayrshire, South West Scotland. Our site incorporates our own spacious, climate-controlled hanging chills which allow us to expertly manage the maturing process of our meat and specially designed product development, butchery and recipe preparation areas. Our 'We hae meat' Renewables Plant is located next to our production facility and this is where we generate our own green energy to power our operation.
We hold AA grade BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification so you can be sure that we are operating to the highest standards of product quality, safety and legality and our green credentials give you peace of mind of our commitment to sustainable business practices.
As a family business, we take great pride in what we do and ensure that this is reflected in our products and service. Being farmers as well as butchers means we understand and can have total control of our supply chain from the rearing of livestock through to traditional butchering by our team of expert butchers and careful manufacturing of recipes for our meat products. We strive to maintain the highest standards of quality and service throughout.
Our History
Our family has been rearing award-winning cattle at our Cairnhill Farm for four generations and had a long-held ambition to create a brand for the meat from the farm. Our butchers business – ‘We hae meat’ – was launched in 2007 as a diversification from the farming business to try to achieve this goal. We started off with a small butchers shop in our home town of Girvan. As demand for our products grew and many of our products started to be stocked in supermarkets across Scotland, we constructed a new state-of-the-art butchery plant to operate from. We hold BRC AA food safety accreditation and we generate our own sustainable energy to power our plant.
